The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association’s (NRC) 2023Annual Railroad Equipment Auction generated more than $1 million in sales and tens of thousands of dollars to fund new safety training resources for member companies.
The 19th annual event was held in two phases: in person on April 27 at Maintenance of Way Equipment Services’ facility in Rosenburg, Texas, and online through May 5. More than 200 items sold through the combined auctions.
NRC President Ashley Wieland said the auction continued its tradition of providing a valuable service for equipment buyers and sellers while generating funds for NRC safety training videos, FRA 243 model templates, and other safety training resources. “It was a phenomenal event again this year with strong support from the industry and great on-site participation in Rosenburg.”
NRC Auction Committee Chairman Danny Brown noted the many people and companies across the industry who contributed to the auction’s success. “Thank you to the team at Maintenance of Way Equipment Services for doing an amazing job of hosting the auction. Thanks, also, to Omaha Track, for its generosity witha significant equipment donation.”
Brown recognized Blackmon Auctions for administering the auction and the Auction committee members for volunteering hours of time to secure consignments and donations and to catalog specifications. “Even after 19 years, we continue to find better ways to bring buyers and sellers together and to improve the experience for everyone involved. It’s a lot of work and it’s a fun time but, best of all, it produces results that make our industry safer. That, as they say, is priceless. Thank you to everyone involved.”
About the NRC - The NRC is a U.S. trade association that advances the mutual interests of railway contractors and suppliers who construct, maintain and supply freight railroads and rail-transit and passenger lines. Founded in1978, the NRC connects members with other railway industry professionals and government officials and policy makers. The NRC collaborates with its members, government, and industry leaders to create a positive business climate and to make railway construction and maintenance safer and more efficient.
The NRC Auction is held at the perfect time with work just starting up, and it’s a great place to connect with contractors and suppliers. It offers an alternative to buying newer equipment. Many times, you have the chance to find unique equipment that is not manufactured anymore along with parts for both older and newer equipment models.
